Review: Earth Science Daily Sun Defense Lotion

When you come from a family with freckles, it's hard to ignore the effects of sun exposure on your skin.  I made the choice to wear daily sunscreen when I first moved to sunny Los Angeles but even those in rainy cities may want to consider making sunscreen part of their daily beauty routine.  I was in the habit of using a conventional light daily moisturizer with sunscreen and I've been searching for a natural alternative.  Fortunately, I had the opportunity to take Earth Science Daily Sun Defense Lotion for a test run.

Pros:
  • Lightweight and suitable for use on the face
  • Starts out with a nice fragrance but fades so it won't be noticed
  • "Sunscreen smell" is very faint throughout the day
  • Large size is great for those who use daily
  • Affordable ($16.50 for 11 oz.)
  • All-day moisturizer and sunscreen in one
Cons:
  • Will need stronger SPF if outdoors for an extended period of time
Summary:
The Daily Sun Defense Lotion is an excellent option for those looking to apply a moisturizer and a sunscreen in one step.  This is one of the first natural sunscreens that is light enough for use on the face for all but the most oily skin types.  I'd love to see a version with SPF 30, or perhaps one with even more natural ingredients.
