Review: Mrs. May's Trio Bar

As a vegan, I'm always on the search for good trail mix bars. Granola bars are everywhere, but many contain dairy, especially from chocolate chips. While I like chocolate as much as the next person, fruit and nut bars tend to be a safer bet. Mrs. May's takes the fruit and nut concept one step further with their Trio Bar, which contains three types each of nuts, seeds, and fruits.

Summary:
The Trio Bar is essentially a nutritious fruit, nut, and seed blend held together by a little rice malt. The texture is very crunchy - not soft like a chewy granola bar. While the ingredients list boasts many good ingredients, some have complained about the product being made in China (though mostly American ingredients are used). The main concern comes from the cost of shipping both the ingredients and the bars, as well as potentially lower standards for testing for contaminants.

These bars can often be found for less than $1 per bar, but I'd rather pay more for a product made locally. However, the bars themselves are pretty tasty, so I hope Mrs. May's listens to the concerns of their consumers and shifts manufacturing to the U.S.
