Review: Golden Path Alchemy Purify Herbal Cleanser

Liquid cleansers have become commonplace, but many are filled with preservatives and other hazardous ingredients. Even natural cleansers can often have ingredient lists with 20 or more items, exposing you skin to more potential allergens. If you have sensitive skin or are looking for something simpler, try powdered cleansers such as the Purify Herbal Cleanser or Illuminate Cleansing Grains from Golden Path Alchemy.

Pros:
  • Very gentle formulations
  • Contain organic ingredients
  • Light exfoliating effect
  • Travel well
  • Both left face feeling clean but not dry
Cons:
  • Takes a little practice to find the best water/powder ratio
Summary:
I found both the Purify and the Illuminate cleansers to be very gentle and each performed well. The Purify is designed for oily and/or acne-prone skin, while the Illuminate is designed brighten sun-damaged or hyper-pigmented complexions. While it may take a few tries to get the correct powder to water ratio, I found the amount of product needed was still relatively modest. However, this issue could easily be solved with a listing on the site of the suggested ratio (or at least a starting point, such as 1:1).

The main strength of these products is the purity of the ingredients (each rates a remarkably low 0 on the EWG Skin Deep database). Another benefit is the ease of travel with these products, as they won't qualify as liquid when flying. I'd recommend these cleansers for any who are looking for a safe, gentle powdered cleanser.
