Review: LUSH Godiva Solid Shampoo and Tin

Godiva Shampoo and tin (sold separately)
I've spent most of my life using traditional liquid shampoos. When I traveled, I thought my choice was between bringing my own shampoo or using hotel shampoo. Solid shampoo only recently came on my radar, and it's a fascinating new way to clean your hair. LUSH offers several solid shampoos, including the Godiva bar.

Pros:
  • Travels well
  • A little goes a long way
  • Easy to use
  • Pleasant scent
  • Lathers well
Cons:
  • Ingredients could be more gentle
Summary:
LUSH's Godiva bar performs well and is great for travel. I love how LUSH designates products as vegan on their pages, making it easy to determine which products contains animal products. I was disappointed to see that it contained perfume, sodium lauryl sulfate, cocamide DEA, and others that bumped up the EWG Skin Deep rating to a 5. I would love to see this bar reformulated to be more gentle. The idea of a solid shampoo is neat, as it is compact, ideal for travel, and seems to produce less waste overall.
