Review: Alima Pure Balancing Primer Powder

If you love mineral makeup but want to make it last longer, there are a few tricks you can use. First, make sure your skin is moisturized before applying your makeup. Second, use a primer. Many of us think of liquid primers first, but companies such as Alima Pure offer mineral powder primers instead.

Pros:
  • Very gentle
  • Has a hint of color for extra or stand-alone coverage
  • Smooth, undetectable matte finish
  • Available in three colors
  • Attractive packaging
Cons:
  • May fade faster than liquid primers
Summary:
This primer is an effective way to help extend the life of your powder foundation. If you use Alima foundations, they make it easy for you to select a shade corresponding to your foundation. If not, they offer samples in case you have any doubts. I recommend using a thick powder brush to apply, to ensure an adequate application. It may not last as long as some liquid primers, but the ingredients seem safer than many of the "all day" primers. This powder is fairly gentle, rating a low 1 on the EWG Skin Deep database. If you're looking for a gentle primer to use with mineral foundations, Alima's powder is a nice option.
