Review: Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics Liquid Foundation

Liquid foundations can be great for mature and dry skin, as they provide more moisture than powders and creams. If you skin is really dry, you might find that some liquids aren't hydrating enough. While I recommend moisturizer and primer before foundation for any skin type, there are foundations designed to provide more moisture, such as Youngblood's Liquid Mineral Foundation.

Pros:
  • Hydrating formula
  • Pleasant fragrance from essential oils
  • Convenient pump bottle
  • Provides light to medium coverage
  • Available in warm, cool, and neutral shades
Cons:
  • Fairly expensive ($47)
Summary:
This foundation is hydrating when applied, but can still build for more intense coverage. The formula looked a bit shiny, so I set with powder to give it a matte look. The ingredients are fairly gentle, so this foundation comes in around a 2 on the EWG Skin Deep database. It uses unusual ingredients such as reduced salt deep sea water and essential oils for scent, which may explain why it is priced higher than some foundations. I haven't seen this locally, but they do offer free shipping over $75. I don't see any samples offered, but Youngblood does appear to have a fairly generous return policy and a makeup counter tool for more tailored advice. If you're looking for a liquid foundation that is more hydrating than the competition, this is a good one to try.
