Review: Progress in Health Oxygen Acne System

As I teenager, I had occasional acne outbreaks just like many of my peers. While my skin is much better than it used to be, I still get blemishes if I don't use the proper skin care routine. It would've been great to have affordable natural options such as Progress in Health's Acne System available when I was a teenager.

Pros:
  • Effectively addresses acne and blemishes
  • Affordable, even for teens
  • Available individually or as a kit that travels well
  • Suitable for vegans (vegan lactic acid)
  • Easy to use
Cons:
  • Smells like a basic lotion
Summary:
I found the Progress in Health acne system to be very effective without using many of the harsh chemicals of conventional acne treatments.  The scents and textures reminded me a bit of the Perricone system, which was far more expensive and not nearly as natural.  I particularly liked the blemish treatment, which had a tightening effect and a was great for targeting oily areas such as the nose.  I found the cleanser to be a bit thin in consistency but still effective; the toner and moisturizer also worked well.  I would love to see an organic version, but the affordability of this set is great for teens looking to transition to natural products.  I might also suggest adding essential oils for a more sophisticated fragrance.

UPDATE: The company has informed me of the following: "All the products except the cleanser have essential oils of patchouli, lavender, rosemary, and  tea tree. Only the lactic acid cleanser is unscented. We have recently added white willowbark, roman chamomile, peppermint and thyme extracts to the lotion and blemish treatments.  All of the products are made with certified organic ingredients, making the system organic. We are in the process of the certification."
