Review: Supergoop! SPF 35+ Save Face A.M. Moisturizer

Searching for the perfect sunscreen moisturizer is a bit like looking for the perfect pair of black pants. In a sunscreen, you want one with virtually no scent, a light finish, and something gentle enough for sensitive and/or oily skin. Supergoop! makes a moisturizer with SPF 35 that meets many of these tough requirements: Save Face.

Pros:
  • Oil-free base
  • Water resistant
  • Doubles as a moisturizer
  • Light lotion finish
  • Broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) protection
Cons:
Summary:
This moisturizer offers an excellent SPF of 35, which is great for everyday protection. The texture of the lotion is great, offering a finish like a light moisturizer instead of a typical (greasy) lotion. It does have a light sunscreen smell, but it is fairly faint. I was disappointed to see that it rates a 6 on the EWG Skin Deep database, mainly due to the use of Octinoxate (a 6) and several other ingredients rating 3-4. It is also a little more expensive than a regular sunscreen (around $28). However, you may be able to find it in some local stores, especially if you are in California. If you're looking for a combo sunscreen/moisturizer, this lotion has a great texture and works well under makeup.
