Review: Miessence Mascara in Pure Black

As with most creamy and liquid cosmetics, mascara can be difficult to find in a natural formulation. Once you limit your choices to those suitable for vegans, it rules out most natural mascaras, as they often include beeswax. However, there are a few good choices out there, including Misessence Mascara.

Pros:
  • Pleasant scent
  • One of the most natural vegan mascaras on the market
  • Long wand for easy application
  • Won't flake off
  • Easy to apply
  • Sleek packaging
Cons:
  • Relatively expensive for a mascara ($25)
Summary:
Miessence's mascara is a great everyday mascara.  It is not a volumizing mascara by nature, but it can be layered if each coat is applied after the previous coat is dry.  The long wand is a nice touch and the brush allows for easy control.  The only changes I would suggest are to reduce the price slightly and offer a dark brown version.

UPDATE: According to representatives from Miessence, this "was pulled late last year as it undergoes reformulation and is not currently available. We do not have an estimate time for its return at this point." There is currently a similar version available from their other website, but it contains beeswax so it is NOT vegan.
