Review and Giveaway: Jasons C Effects Anti-Wrinkle Day Lotion SPF 30

I'll never forget the day I went sunglasses shopping at Saks Fifth Avenue in Portland. "Even on a cloudy day, you need sun protection," advised the sales clerk. I looked outside to see pouring down rain and thought, "Yeah, right."

Unfortunately, the sunglasses saleswoman was right. We live in a world where sun protection should be a part of our daily routine. So why shouldn't it be effortless? Jason C Effects Anti-Wrinkle Day Lotion SPF 30 Sunscreen is an easy solution for everyday sun protection

Pros:
  • Pleasant fragrance
  • Keeps skin moisturized
  • Contains Broad-Spectrum SPF 30
  • A little goes a long way
  • Light enough to wear under makeup
  • Affordable
  • Avoids harsh chemicals, such as parabens
Cons:
  • Could be more natural
Summary:
Jason C Effects has a pleasant scent and a great texture. It makes daily application easy and offers the bonus benefit of serving as an anti-aging moisturizer. However, I would love to see this reformulated to be even more natural. UPDATE: Reps from Jason have confirmed that the gluconolactone is from sugar so it is vegan! Although it's a lot better than its conventional alternatives, I'd love for it to be made even safer.

This lotion has fantastic, long-lasting moisture that keep me hydrated for hours. While this is great for most skin types, I wouldn't recommend it for those with oily skin. For anyone else, Jason C Effects Day Lotion is a nice way to get moisture and daily SPF 30 in one simple step.

  1. I don't use sunscreen everyday. I have a day mostuirizer that has SPF, but that's it. I'm using Light Weight Mostuirizer o]by Be Green Bath and Body.

  3. I stumbled upon this blog looking for reviews up Rejuva mineral makeup. It's very interesting seeing your posts on more natural makeup/skincare.

I don't use SPF not because I don't want to but because I've yet to find one that doesn't drive my sensitive skin nuts. This includes more natural products that use zinc/titanium as the spf and my skin can't handle chemicals at all. So still on the hunt. :( I might have to look this one up though.

    1. Alexis - Have you tried powder sunscreens (such as Jane Iredale Powder Me SPF or the liquid MyChelle Sun Shield? Those are two of my personal favorites. :)

    1. Hi Melissa,

Unfortunately, this product contains gluconolactone so it's not completely vegan. If you're looking for a vegan sunscreen moisturizer, I recommend MyChelle Sun Shield or Earth Science Daily Sun Defense Lotion, both of which are reviewed here. You might also want to consider writing to Jason and let them know you want more vegan products. :)

    2. Just heard back from Jason - the gluconolactone is from sugar so this product is vegan!

  5. Nothing beats Cetaphil daily moisturizer with SPF - best for all skin types! And last time I was at CVS, they had an oil-free version.

    1. A lot of makeup artists recommend Cetaphil - sounds like it performs really well. I'll have to write them about ceasing their animal testing, as I'd love to see them go cruelty-free!

  6. Goddess Garden Facial Sunscreen. I like how this particular brand doesn't oxidize to a lovely white sheen on my face after a few hours. Plus! The lavender oil and green tea extracts give it a an amazing smell.

  7. I'm always looking for a good moisturizer with SPF, since I live in a rural area it's difficult to find vegan products that don't cost a fortune. Even more difficult to find anti-aging products. Currently I am using Kiss My Face Everyday moisturizer with SPF 15. Would love to try the Jason product.

    1. Kimbate,

Sadly, this product contains gluconolactone so it's not completely vegan. I have emailed the company to confirm, but haven't heard back yet. If you're looking for an affordable vegan sunscreen moisturizer, you might want to check out this review: http://www.kaylinskit.com/2011/06/review-earth-science-daily-sun-defense.html

I always request vegan products, but sometimes I am sent products that are "nearly vegan" such as this one. Let's hope Jason listens to us and removes the gluconolactone!

  9. I usually use a moisturiser or foundation with SPF, however I'm certain that isn't enough protection to last an entire day. During the Summer I have used Banana Boat, up until I started a cruelty-free collection of products at home, and now... well, I am at a loss and had better get something better before this Summer starts! haha
