Review: Monave Vegan Moisture Mousse Foundation

Foundations come in many different forms, from powders to liquids and everything in between. One of the rarer forms is mousse, which often takes the form of a lightweight liquid or cream. In a market flooded with gentle powder foundations, it's refreshing to see a mousse such as Monave's Vegan Mositure Mousse Foundation.

Pros:
  • Lightweight, yet offers medium coverage
  • Could be used as a concealer or a foundation
  • Great consistency
  • Gentle ingredients
  • Available in several shades
Cons:
  • May be hard to find locally
Summary:
Monave's Vegan Mositure Mousse Foundation is a rare product due to the form and extremely gentle formula. It rates about a 0 on EWG's Skin Deep database, which is as safe as it gets. The only drawback to this formulation is that it actually shows signs of expiration when expected (experts recommend replacing most creams and liquids every 6 months). Otherwise, the performance was solid and I enjoyed the lightweight texture. As with other liquids, I recommend layering over a primer for all-day wear.

If I were to change one thing about this line, I'd recommend adding more pictures to the website, especially for this product. There appeared to be a broad range of colors available, but I'd love to see them on the site to assist with my selection. In the meantime, you can easily contact Monave if you have color selection questions. To their credit, Monave also samples on each product page, which is a great option for those new to the line. If you're looking for a vegan mousse, Monave offers a solid option that is also very gentle.
