Restaurant Review: San Diego's Lotus Cafe

Lotus Cafe Vegan Breakfast
As a vegan, I am often faced with few to no options on most menus. Sometimes, I have to scan the sides served with meat dishes to make my own plate of veggies, beans, and rice. That's why restaurants like Lotus Cafe are so amazing. They offer dozens of items for vegans on a clearly-marked menu. I had the privilege of visiting both their Hillcrest and their Encinitas locations. Read on to find out why.

  • Huge selection of choices
  • Vegan and gluten-free choices clearly marked
  • Menu items adaptable
  • Two locations
  • Affordable prices
  • You may have trouble deciding between all the delicious options
There is a lot to love about Lotus Cafe. They have a broad range of options for vegans, from healthy salads to indulgence foods such as cupcakes. I enjoyed trying their breakfast menu, including buckwheat pancakes, potatoes, tofu scramble, and sausage. The food was really fresh and filling. For the price, you get a lot of food, especially considering the quality. I would recommend sharing with a friend or taking some to go.

As this is a Southern California restaurant, it's worth mentioning that both places have fairly convenient parking. There is a lot outside the Encinitas location (though spaces may be limited during peak times) and a convenient parking garage that can be validated on your visit to the Hillcrest location. They also have pick up options if you're in a hurry. I highly recommend visiting the Lotus Cafe if you're in the San Diego area.
