Review: Zuzu Luxe Lipstick

I'm pretty particular when it comes to lipsticks. Any products that requires reapplication multiple times a day (due to my many meals and snacks) has got to be worth the effort. I've tried many sticky, waxy, and foul tasting sticks and they don't make the cut. One that rises above the rest is Gabriel's Zuzu Luxe Lipstick.

This lipstick has the perfect consistency. You can usually see for yourself in many health food stores, which often offer testers. I recommend running a stick gently along the back of your hand to give you an idea of how it looks against your skin tone. (Never test lipstick on your lips without proper sensitization for hygienic reasons.)

The formula is fairly gentle, though it rates a moderate 4 on the EWG Skin Deep database. To note, this product uses the same formula as the Gabriel lipstick. However, I think the design of the Zuzu tubes is more modern and slightly more attractive. The higher rating on these lipsticks is weighed down by vitamin A, but the company has informed me this is used in very small amounts.

This line also carries my personal favorite red lipstick, Starlet. You can read more about my favorite red here. I love it not only for the color but also for the smooth application. At around $18 per tube, this isn't a budget lipstick, but you get what you pay for in terms of quality. If you're looking for a high-quality vegan lipstick with similar performance to conventional brands, look for Gabriel and Zuzu Luxe.
