Review: Christy Coleman Organic Cotton Makeup Bag

Like many frequent travelers, I am fiercely loyal to certain carry cases and bags. I have used the same makeup bag for years because it is just the right size to hold my daily makeup kit but long enough to hold a toothbrush. Then there are some bags I love to bring on trips because they can serve two purposes: a carry-on with a zip-off day pack or a cosmetic bag that doubles as a clutch. It is surprisingly difficult to find eco-friendly travel cases, especially if you're in the market for something stylish, not funky. Christy Coleman, however, makes a lovely makeup bag that is great for travel.

Pros:
  • Made of 100% organic cotton
  • Wide enough for long brushes and pencils
  • Holds an ample amount of makeup
  • Lovely, simple design
  • Sturdy zipper
  • Lined, with hidden seams
  • Can stand on its own
Cons:
  • May be hard to find locally
Summary:
This organic makeup bag has many great advantages that make it a versatile travel bag. It can double as a clutch and can hold most beauty necessities. However, the lining is cotton, so I would recommend bagging liquids in a resealable plastic bag before placing inside if you plan to fly or toss it around. Considering the quality of the materials and construction, $28 is a fair price. It is more readily available online, which can add a bit to the cost. If I were to make a change to this bag, I would recommend dyeing it a slightly darker color, as I often get stains in my travel beauty bags. Overall, I think this is a great option if you are in the market for a stylish, eco-friendly travel bag.
