Review: Pencil Me In Eyeliner Pencils

Eyes can be very sensitive, so I tend to be selective when it comes to eyeliners. Many drugstore products contain many hazardous preservatives and chemicals, which I'd rather not put anywhere near my face. Brands such as Pencil Me In prove that eyeliners can be made without many of the harshest chemicals, while still providing excellent quality or variety.

Pros:
  • Nice, smooth consistency
  • Will smudge for softer effects
  • Sharpens to a fine point
  • Very broad color selection
  • Sharpened included in cap
  • Affordable (about $7 each)
Cons:
  • Not vegan or gluten-free
Summary:
I absolutely love the wide selection of colors offered by Pencil Me In. They allow for a lot of playful options, especially for those who love experimenting with makeup. I recommend utilizing the handy sharpeners often, as these eyeliners perform best when sharpened to a fine point. However, it's best to wipe off the sharpeners when done, so loose bits of pencil won't stain cosmetic bags or drawers. The liners tended to last around 6-8 hours, so a reapplication may be needed before an evening out.

I was glad to see that these pencils were not tested on animals, but I would love this brand to take the next step and offer a vegan pencil (no beeswax, lanolin, or animal-derived sqaulene). Also, these pencils contain vitamin A, which is a concern for some who look to sites such as EWG's Skin Deep for safety ratings. Regardless, I would recommend these pencils for those looking to transition to a more natural eyeliner without breaking the budget.
