Review: Dr.'s Remedy Enriched Instant Cover

Foundation is commonly used on the face, but what if you have other exposed skin that could use a little help? Tattoo cover and other types of "illusion" makeup are common requested by my clients, though many of those products aren't suitable for everyday use. Dr's Remedy recently released a product called Enriched Instant Cover, which is designed to provide light to medium coverage for exposed skin beyond the face.

Pros:
  • Smudge-proof when dry
  • Pleasant fragrance
  • Avoids many harsh chemicals and preservatives
  • Easy to apply
  • Nice, creamy texture
Cons:
  • May be hard to find in stores
Summary:
Dr.'s Remedy Instant Cover is a nice way to cover and smooth over any areas of exposed skin. However, this is not a multi-tasking facial/body foundation; the packaging advises against use on the face. The sponge applicator makes it easy to apply this on the body, especially on larger areas such as the legs. Although limited to three shades, the lightweight finish will make differences between your natural color and the product less noticeable.

I thought the product performed well, but I'd like to see some modifications to the formulation in the future. It is not vegan due to the inclusion of beeswax and this brand uses wheat proteins in many of their products (not suitable for those who are strictly gluten-free). Also, I'd like to see it formulated to be even safer, as some ingredients, such as sodium borate, benzyl alcohol, and the vague "fragrance" would weigh heavily if this product were put up against the EWG Skin Deep safety ratings.

I would recommend this product for those looking for a simple solution to help conceal discolorations or other blemishes exposed skin, such as arms or legs. It is more natural than many similar products on the market and performs well. The $40 price tag is understandable considering the amount and quality, though the budget-conscious may want to watch their Facebook and Twitter pages for sales and discounts.

Review and Giveaway: Dr.'s Remedy Enriched Nail Polish

It's easy to pick up nail polish at the drugstore, but it's rarely something that you'd feel comfortable putting on your skin. With ingredients such as toulene and formaldehyde, conventional nails polishes are far from natural. Instead, I recommend seeking out gentler polishes such as Dr.'s Remedy Enriched Nail Polish.

Pros:
  • Comes in a range of colors, both shimmery and matte
  • Nice texture and finish
  • Didn't chip easily after a couple of coats
  • Gentler ingredients than many conventional polishes
