Review: E.L.F. Essential Feather Proof Moisturizing Lip Liner

I tend to be especially careful with products that I put on my lips. Your skin absorbs much of the products you put on your skin, but when I know I might eat something, I want to know exactly what is in it. Eyes Lips Face makes a vegan lip liner at a very attractive price, the Essential Feather Proof Moisturizing Lip Liner.

Pros:
  • Very affordable
  • Retail availability
  • Comes in a handful of natural shades
  • Long-lasting
  • Precise application
Cons:
  • Texture is a little stiff
Summary:
One of the best things about this pencil is that the color tends to stay put. However, getting it there is sometimes a bit of an issue; the texture is stiff and not as soft as I'd like. Although this came in at a very low 1 on the EWG Skin Deep database, some reviewers complained about the red dye 40. It also contains mineral oil and petrolatum, which are a concern for some. If you're on a really tight budget or need something long lasting, this is an okay vegan liner, but I'd recommend the Mineral Lip Liner instead, as it is also cheap but has higher quality ingredients and a smoother texture.

Also available on Amazon.com, for an oddly high price.

UPDATE: According to a representative from E.L.F., "Our products do not contain gluten or beeswax. Please be aware, however, that we cannot guarantee that the machinery used to process our products are completely gluten free."
